V2V, V2I 기술은 2000 년대 초반부터 유럽 , 미국 , 일본이 먼저 출발했고 최근에 우리가 후발주자로 나섰다 . 아쉽게도 전 세계적으로 실제 도로에서 상용화 사례는 아직 없다 . 일부 유럽 국가와 일본에서 시스템 구축 단계에 들어섰지만 차량들에게 어느 정도 단말이 보급되어야 정확한 실제 효과평가가 가능하다 . 다만 시뮬레이션을 통한 기대효과는 미국 같은 경우 , V2V 와 V2I 기술 적용시 81% 의 교통사고 감소가 예측됐다 . 교통안전 분야의 엄청난 혁신이 될 것이다 .
